Qatar 2022, Italian Army leads Orice operation for World Cup security

Five hundred and sixty soldiers of the Armed Forces employed at full capacity, including the crew of the patrol vessel that has not yet deployed, 46 land vehicles, a ship and two aircraft. The World Cup in Qatar is fast approaching and the huge security measures put in place for the grand event are improving. For the safety of the 2022 Fifa World Cup, scheduled from 20 November to 18 December next, where the Italy of football will be absent, there will be a different presence of Italians, given that the joint contingent will be led by the Italian Army as head of operation Orice, the bilateral support mission to the Qatari Armed Forces for the World Cup.

Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah, accompanied by the Chief of Defense General Salem bin Hamad Al Nabit, and by General Mohammed Abdullatif Al-Mannai, advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs for the World Cup Fifa 2022, expressed the appreciation of Qatar and its staff for the consolidated relationship of collaboration and trust with Italy.

All this also in light of the results achieved at the end of ‘Watan 2022’, the multinational joint and inter-agency exercise promoted by Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al-Thani, President of the Security Committee for the Cup. of the FIFA World Qatar 2022, which saw the participation of the armed forces of Qatar and thirteen allied countries, including Italy, in testing the security plans, the response capacity and the cooperation of all the actors involved in the outbreak potential risks, both internal and external, which could undermine the smooth running of the historic event. The visit, organized in the Al Qaqaa base, headquarters of the Italian contingent based on the Sassari Brigade, ended with a demonstration of the capabilities expressed by the national joint force in terms of materials, equipment, vehicles and systems supplied to the specialist units of the three Task Forces present.
