Raid Pavia-Venezia motorboat, Montavoci, Poma and Ghedina present 70th edition

Day of sports and motors at the Venice Casino, where the press conference was held to present the initiatives promoted by the Venice Motorboat Association for 2022, and in particular the 2022 racing calendar which will see the pilots of the team involved -Kristian Ghedina, Giampaolo Montavoci, Francis Notschaele, Fabio Magnani and Marco Crosera – in the world, continental and Italian championships. The honors were Giampaolo Montavoci (President of the Venice Motorboat Association), Angelo Poma (Pavia Motorboat Association) and the former skier and now member of the Venetian motorboat team Kristian Ghedina, who welcomed the institutional figures present at the day : Paola Mar ( Heritage Municipality of Venice), Marco Infante (Vice President of the Italian Motorboat Federation) and Marino Masiero (President of Assonautica Venezia and Vice President of Assonautica Italiana).

The 70th edition of the Pavia-Venice Motorboat Raid was then officially presented, organized by the Motorboat Association of Pavia and the Venice Motorboat Association. Scheduled for Sunday 5 June 2022, under the aegis of the FIM (Italian Motorboat Federation), the 70th edition of the raid was sold out, closing registrations in just 60 hours for all 133 available places. Among the participants stands out the name of the 10 times world champion in powerboating Guido Cappellini, who will try to win the only race that is missing from his palmares. Also competing in Abu Dhabi Emirati Rashed Al-Qemzi, reigning Formula 2 world champion, Drew Langdon, former ski champion Kristian Ghedina (paired with Giampaolo Montavoci), President of Assonautica Venezia Marino Masiero, Tullio Abbate Jr and many other champions. The international appeal of the raid is confirmed again this year, with registrations received from 13 different nations: Italy, England (with 9 crews), France (7 crews), Belgium, Holland, Spain, Malta, Switzerland, Austria, USA, Dominican Republic, Sweden and United Arab Emirates.

“This year’s Raid – stated Montavoc – will be a fantastic event, given the large participation of pilots from all over the world. The number of participants, with registrations closed in a few hours, is something that makes us proud. It is a competition full of unknowns – continued Montavoci, who will be competing with Ghedina – but it will be fun to share the hull with Kristian. I will help him to understand the trajectories and pitfalls well! “. Ghedina himself, on the other hand, declared: “The Raid is a new experience for me and I can’t wait to run it. Last year Giampaolo involved me in an amateur way, but this year there is a great desire to do well. I’m sure I will experience great emotions and as much adrenaline as when I was on skis “.

Also in Venice there will be the first exhibition of zero-emission “GT-Electra” hulls – a new electric powerboat category desired, designed and built by the Venice Motorboat Association – which will compete at the Boat Show, in a competition organized by the Venice Motorboat Association. and Assonautica Venezia. Also presented, for the occasion, the 2nd offshore powerboating world championship to be held in Rodi Garganico from 16 to 19 June 2022, as well as the new headquarters of the Venice Motorboat Association in the Villa Groggia Park.
