Rome, Carmine Belfiore new quaestor

He takes the place of Matteo Piantedosi

Carmine Belfiore is the new quaestor of Rome. He takes the place of Matteo Piantedosi, who became Minister of the Interior. The appointment was approved by the council of ministers held during the night.

A law graduate, Belfiore, originally from Rossano, joined the Police in 1985. After directing the anti-terrorism section of the Digos of Genoa, in 1989 he joined the Digos of Rome, where he first directed the “left-wing information” section and, subsequently, the “leftist terrorism” section, then the position of deputy manager. In August 2000 he was transferred to the Central Directorate of the Prevention Police (formerly Ucigos) where he took over the management of the “Operational Division” in which he coordinated important investigations into terrorism. From 2003 to 2008 he was seconded to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (ex Sisde).

In March 2008 he returned to the State Police and was assigned to the Rome Police Headquarters where he directed the Police Stations of Tivoli, San Lorenzo and Viminale. From June 2011 to August 2013, he held the position of Deputy Quaestor Vicar of the Rome Police Headquarters. From August 2013 until July 2017 he held the position of Quaestor of Terni. From 3 July 2017 until April 2019 he was Quaestor of Latina, to then assume a new position at the Inspectorate General of the Senate in Rome.
