Ronzulli on Sky TG24: “We want to make the cut in the tax wedge structural”

Forza Italia’s parent company in the Senate: “It will depend on the economic conditions in December. We are working, in fact, to make it structural from 2024. When Renzi inserted the 80 euros, they weren’t structural at the time, they became so later”

A great deal of criticism has rained down on the government on the work decree presented on 1 May. On the subject, a staron Sky TG24, Licia Ronzulli, Forza Italia group leader in the Senate: “A specious and instrumental criticism that we don’t understand. The opposition and the unions missed the opportunity on May 1 to get us all together around a table,” she said. And again: “We tend to make the cut structural. Of course, it will depend on the economic conditions in December. We are working, in fact, to make it structural from 2024. When Renzi inserted the 80 euros, they weren’t structural at that time, they became so later” . (CALDERONE’S STATEMENTS – HOW LONG DOES THE WEDGE CUT LAST?)

“Absurd to compare to the Renzi government measure”

Ronzulli then explained: “I have to contest the article in the press and I’m sorry to do it on television. I hand over some numbers, which you need to know how to read, they are merciless. I consider it absurd to make a comparison between the Renzi and Meloni governments. Renzi’s cut went as far as 26 thousand euros of income and we arrive at 35 thousand. At the time, inflation was 0.60 and the cost of money was 0.15 and 0.05. You cannot compare Renzi’s historical period to that of Meloni. “inflation at 0.60 and not +12 like today. This comparison is meaningless,” he continued. “Let’s cut the tax wedge to increase wages. We are against the minimum wage, but in favor of valorisation. We have a number of contracts, bonuses, within a wage, which if we apply European contracts and set minimum wages, they would be lower where there is bargaining. We want to increase, but also understand the conditions we are in”.

“Berlusconi is pounding to get out of the hospital”

Finally, Ronsulli focused on Silvio Berlusconi’s state of health: “He’s pounding to get out of the hospital, it’s a good sign because it means he’s fine. He’s calling all of us because he wants details. Having said that, health is first of all. A courtship from Italia Viva? No, of course personal relationships live beyond politics. Renzi and I have been in the senate for five years, we have known each other. However, no opening: they are in the opposition and we to the government. To get closer or Italia Viva decides to enter, and the doors are open, or otherwise there can’t be this thing. Giorgia Meloni like Margaret Thatcher? I don’t like comparisons, they are different contexts. In the meantime, we have a prime minister woman, but if it still makes news then it means that we are behind. The attitude is there and also the will to widen this majority. Let’s see”.
