The British presenter, actor, comedian and writer Russell Brand, 48, has been accused of rape, sexual assault and psychological violence by several women, violence that allegedly occurred over a period of seven years. This was revealed by an investigation by Sunday Times and Channel 4.
Four women reported having suffered sexual violence from 2006 to 2013. One of the women said she was 16 years old at the time.
Other women have accused the British celebrity of physical and psychological abuse and sexual intimidation. Brand denies any wrongdoing and says the relationship was consensual.
On Friday 15 September Russell Brand published a video on X (formerly Twitter) and YouTube where he declared himself innocent. He claims to be the victim of a “coordinated attack”, he said in the video shared via social media.
“As I wrote in my books, I was very, very promiscuous at that time,” Brand says. “But during the period of promiscuity, relationships were always consensual.”

Who is Russell Brand
Brand began his career in the early 2000s as a stand-up comedian. Over time, he diversified his activities, becoming a presenter, actor and writer.
He has hosted many radio and television programs on the BBC, Channel 4 and MTV, among others, and has had several roles in US film comedies, including Don’t dump me (Forgetting Sarah Marshalldirected by Nicholas Stoller) in 2008. His latest cinematographic works date back to 2022, the year in which he starred on the set of two films: Murder on the Nile (Death on the Niledirected by Kenneth Branagh) e Catherine (Catherine Called Birdydirected by Lena Dunham).
As for his private life, Russell Brand was married to the pop star Katy Perry from 23 October 2010 to 30 December 2011. The two met in the summer of 2009, during the filming of the film Traveling with a rock starin which Brand co-starred and where Katy Perry made a cameo (but the scene was later cut from the final cut of the film)
Perry and Brand met again at the MTV Video Music Awards in September of that year, where Brand was one of the presenters. They got engaged in December 2009, during a trip to India. They got married in a traditional Hindu ceremony near the tiger temple in Ranthambhore, Rajasthan.
After his marriage to Katy Perry, Brand dated television producer Jemima Goldsmith between 2013 and 2014. After a period spent living in Los Angeles, California, Brand returned to the UK. He currently resides in Shoreditch, an area of London, together with his current partner, married in 2017, the Scottish blogger Laura Gallacher with whom he had a daughter, born in November 2016.
