Saman Abbas, the story of his cousin: “Strangled and thrown into the Po”

His words to another inmate who reported him to a prison officer

Saman Abbas, the young Pakistani woman who disappeared on 30 April 2021 from Novellara, in the province of Reggio Emilia, after she had opposed an arranged marriage, would have been, says one of the Ijaz Ikram cousins, “held down by us and strangled by her uncle, Danish Hasnain, with a rope “. This is what Ikram would have said to another inmate who would have reported it to a prison officer. A reconstruction that, however, did not find confirmation in the investigations of the Reggio Emilia carabinieri.

The mother would then be seized by a fit of tears and estranged from her husband Shabbar Abbas. An unidentified man, together with his uncle and one of the two cousins, allegedly put “the body in a sack and transported it on a bike to the Po, where they would then get rid of it”. The story of the moments of the crime was reported by one of Saman’s cousins, Ijaz Ikram, to another inmate who reported it to a prison officer. A reconstruction that, however, did not find confirmation in the investigations of the Reggio Emilia carabinieri.
