Soon available in 104 countries around the world and eight languages (including Italian), Samsung Food will offer the most varied food experiences with over 160,000 recipes available, will be able to interface with home appliances and will allow users to share their favorite recipes on social networks average
Samsung Electronics announces the creation of Samsung Food, a new platform powered by Ai (Artificial Intelligence) to personalize dishes and recipes. Coming soon in 104 countries of the world and eight languages (including Italian)Samsung Food will offer the most varied food experiences with over 160,000 recipes available, just like a personal assistant that supports the user in discovering new dishes, creating tailor-made meal plans and online purchases of indispensable ingredients. The app will be able to interface with home appliances, guiding them through cooking procedures, and will allow users to share their favorite recipes on social media.
With a wide range of cooking appliances and food-related services, Samsung Food uses Ai technology to offer an innovative platform designed to approach users’ needs and lifestyles. Samsung Food draws on the extensive database of Whisk, a recipe app acquired by Samsung Next in 2019 that leverages Food Ai technology.
Chanwoo Park, Executive Vice President and Head of the Service Biz Group of the Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics says “The food we eat and how we prepare it are becoming more and more important in our daily life, and we all love to cook and eat together”, and adds “By connecting home appliances and mobile devices through the Samsung ecosystem, and assisting users from the shopping list to the ready dish on the table, Samsung Food uses advanced artificial intelligence features to provide a complete and personalized experience that everyone can control directly from their smartphone”.
Samsung Food offers multiple functions by supporting users at every stage of planning and cooking meals by embracing four areas: the discovery and personalization of recipes, the planning of tailor-made meals, the connected kitchen and finally sharing on social networks. Samsung Food allows users to save recipes on their personal account; analyzes recipes, standardizes their format and organizes them to create shopping lists based on the ingredients needed. In addition to mobile devices, users can access the Samsung Food service through the Bespoke Family Hub refrigerators. Activated from the Family Hub touch display, Samsung Food provides recipe recommendations based on the list of available foods.
Samsung Food is also equipped with a function of Personalization of Recipes, which allows the app’s AI to modify a saved recipe to better reflect your personal dietary needs. For example, users can convert a recipe into a vegan or vegetarian version, or make other changes to create more balanced recipes from a nutritional point of view or based on the ingredients available at home. Users will also be able to create fusion recipes, or Korean versions of Italian dishes, and will also be able to adjust the cooking time or difficulty level of a recipe.
To customize your daily meal plans, the app provides recommendations created through artificial intelligence based on user data on food preferences and favorite types of cuisine. Nutritional breakdowns of ingredients are available at any time, and users can also add items to their Samsung Food shopping list and send it directly to an e-commerce checkout. With the smart kitchen, Samsung Food’s connectivity allows users to set timers, preheat ovens and send recipe cooking settings directly to appliances through step-by-step guided cooking modes, all via their mobile devices. Starting with the Bespoke oven, by the end of the year Samsung plans to connect numerous appliances to Samsung Food, including the Bespoke induction range and Bespoke microwaves – an added convenience for those who dedicate themselves to the kitchen! Being social is very simple for Samsung Food users who will be able to share their favorite dishes with the community, create and publish their own recipes and follow the food creators they love most!
In addition to those already available on Samsung Food at launch, Samsung will continue to add features and services for a more seamless and complete food experience. Furthermore, by the end of the year, Samsung Health will be associated with Samsung Food so that users can receive optimized solutions for their well-being. These include personalized meal suggestions based on data such as BMI, body composition and calorie consumption to help users achieve their health goals while maintaining a balanced diet.
Expected in 2024, Vision Ai technology will enable Samsung Food to recognize the foods and meals photographed and be able to provide details, including nutritional information. By analyzing foods, the app will be able to recommend the best recipes to use them with, save recipes in your personal collection and add the necessary ingredients to a shopping list, all with just a few taps. As part of Samsung’s ever-growing family of services, Samsung Food represents the latest frontier for a complete and highly personalized (Bespoke) experience that Samsung users can enjoy at home. Samsung Food aims to simplify the use of a smart and connected kitchen with Samsung appliances and will continue to be updated with new functions after the official launch.
