Here’s when they’ll be available and how much they’ll cost
Samsung has officially unveiled the fifth generation of foldable Galaxy devices: Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5, available from August 11 in stores and already available for pre-order. “Samsung is revolutionizing the mobile industry with its foldable devices by setting standards and continuously improving the experiences of its users,” said TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics. “Every day more and more people choose our foldable devices because they are the only ones able to offer the experience that users want. Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 demonstrate our commitment to meeting the needs of our customers through ever more innovative technology”. Both Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 are designed with ruggedness in mind. The main screen has a shock-absorbing layer and a redesigned back that gives the display more solidity. In addition to IPX8 certification, Armor Aluminum shells and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the Flex Window and back, the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 offer the protection consumers expect, further enhanced by the Flex Hinge. This new integrated hinge module features a double-track structure that attenuates external impacts.
Galaxy Z Flip5, has a new external screen: the new Flex Window, now 3.78 times wider than that of the previous generation, offers numerous new features. The customization options, which include, among others, informative and graphic clocks that can be combined with the Galaxy Watch6 dials, allow you to make the device more personalized. In addition, the new Galaxy Z Flip5 Flipsuit Case provides device protection with an interchangeable NFC card, allowing users to associate the Flex Window design with that of the cover. Useful information can be accessed quickly and easily from the Flex Window. Thanks to the Widgets, users can check the weather forecast, music playbacks and listen to their favorite music with Music Controller, or stay up to date on the stock market through the Google Finance widget. Pinch the screen to activate the Multi Widget View which offers the possibility to take a look at all the Widgets and immediately switch between them. Plus, you can check notifications and access Quick Settings for Wi-Fi or Bluetooth with ease. Without opening the device you can scroll through your call history to retrieve missed calls and reply to messages using the Quick Reply feature via a full QWERTY keyboard and having full visibility of your chat history. Swipe up on the screen to access Samsung Wallet to pay on the go, access loyalty and coupon cards, boarding passes, digital keys and health certificates.
Thanks to the Flex Window it is possible to take high-quality selfies with the rear camera, while with FlexCam users can take hands-free photos from different angles. Users can edit images or adjust the color tone via quick view in the Flex Window. When you take a photo of a friend, the External Screen Preview feature lets you view your image in the Flex Window for mirroring and making changes in real time. Users can capture a sharp photo on the go with Stabilizer for stable shooting, while Auto Framing ensures that everyone in the photo is included in the picture.
Despite being the thinnest and lightest Fold, Galaxy Z Fold5 has a large, immersive screen and long battery life and delivers the most powerful performance of the entire Galaxy Z series. The S Pen Fold Edition, introduced in the third generation of foldables in 2021, has been refined to offer a superior writing experience on Galaxy Z Fold5. The improved Taskbar ensures greater productivity by allowing users to quickly switch between frequently used apps. Now up to four recent applications are ready to be opened to work more efficiently. The newly enhanced two-handed drag-and-drop functionality also enables a productivity boost when moving content between apps. Just touch and hold an image in Gallery with one finger and open the Samsung Notes app with another to drag and drop the image. In the presence of a hidden pop-up, an app can continue to run in the background, allowing users to watch video content in full screen and chat with friends in a floating pop-up at the side of the screen.
The 7.6-inch main screen offers a wide, cinematic view that allows users to enjoy their favorite movie in both landscape and portrait modes and multitask on the go. In addition, the peak brightness increased by more than 30% up to 1750 nits, ensures a perfect outdoor viewing experience even in strong sunlight. Offering users an immersive gaming experience on the screen of the largest Galaxy smartphone ever, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy optimizes graphics and employs AI to enable dynamic gaming and multi-game capabilities. Thanks to the advanced cooling system capable of dissipating heat more intelligently, Galaxy Z Fold5 allows you to immerse yourself in real gaming marathons, with lower latency and without loss of performance.
Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 are available for pre-order starting July 26, with general availability starting August 11. With Galaxy Z Flip5, users can choose from various colors (Mint, Graphite, Cream and Lavender) and accessories such as the transparent Clear Gadget Case, the Flap Eco-Leather Case made of eco-leather, the Flipsuit Case and the silicone with ring, to create a more personalized look. Galaxy Z Fold5 is available in Icy Blue, Phantom Black, and Cream, along with a variety of cases such as the Slim S Pen Case, Clear Gadget Case, Eco-Leather Case, and Standing Case with Strap. Galaxy Z Flip5 will be available in Italy in the following configurations: in the 256GB version at the recommended price of €1249 and in the 512GB version at the recommended price of €1369. Galaxy Z Fold5 will be available in the following configurations: 256GB at the MSRP of €1999, 512GB at the MSRP of €2119, 1TB at the MSRP of €2339. For all those who trade-in, Samsung will award €100 of extra valuation for the purchase of a Galaxy Z Flip5 and €150 for the purchase of a Galaxy Z Fold5 (all memory variants). During the pre-order period, users will be able to purchase the 512GB versions of both the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 for the same price as the 256GB version. The 1TB version of Galaxy Z Fold5 will be available for purchase at an introductory price of €2239 during the pre-order period.
