The fire broke out yesterday evening in a particularly impervious stretch of wood. Fire also between Taggia and Badalucco
A vast fire hit a wooded section of the hamlet of Verezzo yesterday evening, in the hinterland of Sanremo. The flames broke out just before sunset, leaving the men grounded all night without air support. From this morning the regional helicopters from Imperia and Genoa have been mobilized, together with two canadairs. The operations to contain the fire, the mayor Alberto Biancheri reports, are still in progress, complicated by the particularly impervious terrain on which the flames have spread on the western side.
The flames, informs the Liguria Region, affect an inaccessible area, which made night operations by the ground teams of the firefighters and civil protection volunteers of Taggia, Valle Argentina and Ranger volunteers of Italy very complicated. At the moment the flames are located far from the houses. The Liguria Region is in constant contact with the representatives on the spot and the local mayors to monitor the situation.
Flames also in Valle Argentina, in a wooded area between Taggia and Badalucco. The Eli-Liguria firefighting helicopter, the Fire Brigade, with various teams on the ground, and civil protection volunteers are operating on site
