Scala, the Academy launches a new specialization course in classical and contemporary dance

A new course. A new opportunity for young dancers. The Dance Department of the Teatro alla Scala Academy, directed by Frédéric Olivieri, adds a new one to its training offer, which is already wide and diversified Advanced course in classical and contemporary dance (HERE ALL THE INFO) which avails itself of the artistic direction of Maurizio VanadiaDeputy Director of the Scala Ballet School.

This is a proposal aimed at dancers with an experience of at least eight years of studying classical-academic dance who intend to perfect their technical and interpretative preparation.

The goal is to develop the artistic skills of young dancers preparing them to face their professional career thanks to the deepening of the knowledge of different dance styles and choreographic methods.

The program

The program, divided into 450 hours and distributed over five months (from 10 January to 17 June 2023) with an afternoon frequency from Monday to Friday and on Saturday morning, provides for the study and deepening of the classical-academic technique and contemporary and classical, neoclassical and contemporary repertoire. At the end of the path, the participants will be asked to perform in the context of a final event.

The teachers

The teaching staff is made up of leading artists. TO Marta Romagna, Gelati Gilda, Alessandro Grillo And Biagio Tamboneformer principal dancers of the Teatro alla Scala, are entrusted with classical dance and repertoire lessons.

For contemporary dance, the names of Matteo Levaggi, Davide Montagna and Rosita Mariani.

The course is also enriched by the presence of internationally renowned choreographers and maîtrees, called for masterclasses and targeted coaching. How to log in

Admission to the course is subject to passing an audition aimed at assessing the technical level by sending a video and an online motivational interview. The candidate will have to record a video with a short classical dance sequence (inserting the following steps in the center: adagio, pirouettes, small jumps and big allegro. Candidates are asked to perform these exercises in pointe) and a contemporary dance sequence lasting maximum of two minutes.

The course requires a participation fee.
