Neve Campbell will return to the role of the legendary Sidney Prescott in Scream? Maybe, at least according to the words that the American actress offered to the microphones of the American magazine IndieWire in a recent interview.
The star of the slasher franchise has declared that she is not at all against a return to the horror film series, on the contrary: from her words it is clear that she would like to return to that set. She has thus opened up the hope of fans, who would love to see her again in Sidney’s role, however Campbell demands what she defines as “right conditions”.
“I made a statement several years ago, and it was the reason I didn’t make the film at the time. I really felt the need to say that I don’t think I would have been treated that way if I had been a man running a franchise for 25 years. For me the same thing still applies”, reiterated the actress during the video interview granted to IndieWire from the red carpet of an event linked to the BAFTA (you can watch the video in the Instagram post at the bottom of this article).
Neve Campbell’s words that light up the fans’ hope
“I love this franchise,” began Neve Campbell when speaking about the cinematic epic Scream. “I will always love him for the memory I have of Wes Craven. I hope it doesn’t collapse and everything doesn’t fall to pieces”, these are his introductory words.
Then, when asked by the interviewer about the possibility of his return, Campbell said: “A return? Given the right circumstances, yes it is possible. I made a statement several years ago, and it was the reason I didn’t make the film at the time. I really felt the need to say that I don’t think I would have been treated that way if I had been a man running a franchise for 25 years. The same thing still applies to me. So, if they choose to bet on me again, we have to start from that concept. We will see”.
Meanwhile, Christopher Landon recently left the directorship of Scream 7
A few weeks ago we learned that Christopher Landon left the directorial role Scream 7.
Even some actors who were on board the project eventually gave up: it happened with Melissa Barrera and then also with Jenna Ortega. She left the franchise due to the work schedule for the second season of Wednesdaythe Netflix television series.
