The President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella is ad Auschwitz, in a stop on the second day of his visit to Poland. The head of state, visiting the pavilions of the Nazi camp, defined it “a place of horror” and then he remained in recollection in front of the wall of death where the prisoners were shot

Mattarella in Auschwitz visited the museum in which the objects that belonged to the hundreds of thousands of people exterminated by the Nazis are kept. In front of the display case with the children’s shoes, the president’s daughter, Laura, is also there moved, and like her many of the school kids who are accompanying the president. Mattarella then took part in the traditional Birkenau March of the living in remembrance of the victims of the Holocaust

On this anniversary in the Nazi camp are attended by thousands of students from all over the world. There is also a delegation from three Italian high schools: those of the Leonardo da Vinci Scientific-Classical-Human Sciences High School in Terracina (Latina), the Rinaldini Classical High School – Ancona, the GA Pujati High School – Sacile (Pordenone)

In the morning Mattarella met the Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at the Warsaw Chancellery building (pictured). Later he saw the president of the Polish Senate
