Serie A, VAR audio arrives on TV on Dazn

The episodes will be commented after Turin-Rome

The VAR audio in the 2023-2024 Serie A matches arrives on TV. Starting tomorrow evening, with the postponement of the fifth Turin-Rome matchday, the referee designer Gianluca Rocchi will speak live during the Sunday Night Square program. Rocchi will reconstruct the main episodes of this football season.

There will also be space to analyze and deepen – through the exclusive audio of the referees’ and Video Assistant Referees’ conversations, combined with the images – definitive refereeing evaluations and interpretations relating to the most interesting things gathered on the field during the championship days.

“We are thrilled to be the first, in the history of Italian football, and not only, to show the VAR’s decisions exclusively on our app through images and above all audio. The objective of this innovative and unprecedented partnership together with FIGC and AIA, and thanks to the collaboration of the Lega Serie A, is to offer all fans an even more passionate experience of Italian football”, comments Stefano Azzi, CEO of Dazn Italia, on the turning point after the agreement with FIGC and AIA.”

We are on the eve of an important turning point in the way of communicating football, with Open Var we want to contribute to creating a renewed sporting culture in our country, a profound knowledge of the rules of the game most loved by Italians and to raise awareness of the world of refereeing. The Figc-Aia space within the Dazn programming is not a slow motion, but the opportunity to understand, in total transparency, how the choices of the match directors are born in one of the most innovative and revolutionary sectors of football in recent years, which is the VAR”, declares the president of the FIGC Gabriele Gravina.

“We warmly welcome this new project, created together with the FIGC. It is a historic moment that will allow the refereeing world to open up more and more with a view to transparency. In this way we will be able to explain the referee’s decision-making processes on the pitch and the important activity carried out by the video match officials at the Var Center in Lissone. This will also promote knowledge of the regulations to increasingly increase football culture for the benefit of all fans”, states Aia president Carlo Pacifici.
