It seems that fans of Star Trek should not abandon the hope of experiencing new adventures in the galaxy with a fourth episode of the science fiction saga. “Star Trek 4 it’s still on track” said a Collider the screenwriter Lindsey Anderson Beerthe current horror director Living Cemetery: The Origins who was initially hired to write the film’s script. “I love that project, and it was hard to abandon it and jump onto another. But I love everyone involved.” The film, which was supposed to start production around mid-2022, would therefore appear to be being defined, but no further information is currently available. As reported by Wired, famous names such as Quentin Tarantino have so far been associated with the film, while negotiations with performers such as Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth have reportedly been interrupted. The most recent rumors had also indicated the guide Matt Shakmandirector of the Marvel TV series WandaVision, who however abandoned the project to work on the reboot Fantastic Four due out in 2025.
THE LUCK OF STAR TREK
In 2009 the director JJ Abrams had inaugurated the reboot of the saga film franchise with the prequel Star Trek, set in the alternate Kelvin timeline and focusing on younger versions of the original protagonists. The cast included, among others, Chris Pine as Captain Kirk, Zachary Quinto as Spock and Zoe Saldana as the communications officer of the starship Enterprise Nyota Uhura. In 2013 the director had also directed the sequel Into the Darkness – Star Trekwhile in 2016 its successor Justin Lin had given life to the third episode Star Trek Beyond. Several also debuted in the following years TV showslast of all Star Trek: Strange New Worlds on Paramount+ (also visible on Sky Glass, Sky Q and via the app on Now Smart Stick).
