Superlega, Uefa on the Madrid Tribunal: “The prevailing opinion will be that of the EU”

European football’s governing body has ‘confirmed that it has received the decision from the Madrid Court of Appeal’

UEFA “confirmed today that it has received the decision of the Madrid Court of Appeal”. This was explained by the governing body of European football to Adnkronos. “UEFA notes that this decision recognizes the prevailing importance of the proceedings pending before the Court of Justice of the European Union, in Luxembourg – added UEFA on the judgment of the Court of Madrid which affirms that neither UEFA nor FIFA can prevent competition from Superlega – The main proceedings before the Commercial Court of Madrid are currently suspended pending the decision of the Court of Justice of the EU.”

“Following the unequivocal opinion of the Advocacy General of the Court of Justice of the EU in support of UEFA’s central mission to govern European football, UEFA is now awaiting the judgment of the Court of Justice of the EU, which will then be notified to the General Court commercial de Madrid so that it can be applied in the main proceedings”, he concludes.
