Sustainability, Burgo Group’s green mission at Ecomondo 2023

Environmental sustainability and social responsibility have always been crucial in the Burgo Group’s business approach

For the first time Burgo Group participated in Ecomondo (from 7 to 10 November 2023 at the Rimini Fair), an international reference event in Europe and the Mediterranean basin for technologies, services and industrial solutions in the green economy and circular economy sectors.

The first ever participation in Ecomondo represents one for Burgo Group fundamental stage of the sustainability path undertaken through a roadmap of actions to be carried out and a series of measurable objectives, in line with part of the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals adopted in 2015 by the United Nations. The Group continues, in fact, to pursue its ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) strategy and its GO2030 Growing sustainably initiative, launched this year through the creation of a section of the Burgo site entirely dedicated to the Company’s green mission, together to its annual sustainability report, also wants to be accompanied by moments of discussion and training such as Ecomondo.

Burgo Group and its people were present at the dedicated stand, inside the paper district, to illustrate the Group’s four entities: Mosaico Specialty Papers, Burgo Recycling, Burgo Energia and Bcb Containerboard. Furthermore, the Company, with the support of Stefano Carraro, Burgo R&D Manager, wanted to raise awareness of the Burgo reality, its operating context and the Group’s approach in the definition, design and creation of products that comply with the sustainability policy, through a moment of exchange with visitors.

Environmental sustainability and social responsibility have always been crucial in the Burgo Group’s approach to business, which in fact dedicates the utmost attention to these issues by virtue of the value of what it produces, i.e. paper. The Group’s areas of intervention concern, in particular, decarbonisation, the optimization of water resources, the reduction of production waste and the development of increasingly sustainable products.

Added to this is Burgo’s choice to operate by involving all the subjects active in the Group by intervening at a governance level and investing in processes to strengthen corporate ethics and integrity. Respect for the individual, inclusiveness, hybrid models of work organization, valorisation of talents and continuous training are fundamental to incorporate the values of responsibility into the dynamics of the company, to support environmental protection and at the same time also promote safety and well-being of those who work in the Group and of the communities in which the Company operates.
