Highlight the Italian banking world’s commitment to sustainability
L’Italian Banking Association publish the new one Declaration of Commitment to promote an economic model that takes into account social, environmental and climatic balances. The fifth edition of the Declaration, which covers the period 2021-2022 and the first months of 2023, focuses on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN Agenda 2030 in relation to macro-themes.
Corporate sustainability and integration of ESG dimensions
The ABI seeks to guide Italian banks in integrating ESG factors into their business strategies. This involves dialogue with institutions to promote a regulatory environment conducive to sustainable development.
Sustainable finance
The Association promotes sustainable finance, encouraging banks, families and businesses to make investment choices that consider environmental, social and governance impacts.
Financial and savings education
The Abi supports families and businesses by encouraging sustainable business practices and promoting a socially responsible approach. It also promotes financial education and responsible saving, providing useful information for a balanced transition in the environmental and climate fields.
The commitment to sustainability also has important implications in:
- accessibility, inclusion and valorization of diversity,
- legality and fight against corruption and crime,
- support at work,
- commitment to the development of territories and culture.
In the Declaration of Commitment, the SDGs to which each initiative contributes are highlighted, together with the results obtained. The ABI, adhering to the United Nations Global Compact since 2005, has also contributed to the creation of a national network for the promotion of the Ten Principles of the Global Compact in Italy, playing a key role as a founding member of the Global Compact Network Italy Foundation.
