Swimming, president Fin Barelli suspended

This was decided by the ethics committee of Fina which “is currently investigating alleged offenses”

The ethics committee of the Fina, the International Swimming Federation, suspended the president of the Fin (Italian Swimming Federation) Paolo Barelli with immediate effect. This was announced by Fina herself with a note on her official website.

“The Ethics Committee of Fina – reads the note – is currently investigating alleged wrongdoing by the president of FIN, former member of the Bureau of Fina and former President of the European Federnuoto (Len). The allegations of wrongdoing under investigation by the ethics committee include potential violations of the rules of Fina’s constitution and its code of ethics. The Board resolved to impose a temporary suspension on Barelli which precludes him from exercising any function and participating in any activity within FINA, the Continental Organizations of FINA and the Federations of FINA. Therefore Barelli is not eligible to hold the position of President of the Italian Swimming Federation during his provisional suspension “.

Barelli: “My suspension is a bad thing and completely instrumental”

“My suspension on the part of Fina? It is a bad thing and completely instrumental in a delicate moment of politics not only in sport”, are the words of Barelli to Adnkronos, adding: “Now I will make a reply press release”.
