“Our embassy in Tel Aviv, the consulate in Jerusalem and the crisis unit are mobilized from the first moment. We are trying to assist all our fellow citizens, we are trying to help repatriate those who want it.” Thus the deputy prime minister and foreign minister, on the situation of the Italians present in the areas where the conflict is underway
“Leaving towards Florence for the States General of cultural diplomacy. Working to try to help compatriots stranded in Israel to return to Italy. Their safety is the government’s top priority.” This, on X, is the message posted by the deputy prime minister and foreign minister, Antonio Tajani. (HAMAS-ISRAEL WAR, ALL NEWS LIVE)
“Not an easy situation but Italians doing their best”
“Our embassy in Tel Aviv, the consulate in Jerusalem and the crisis unit are mobilized from the first moment. We are trying to assist all our fellow citizens, we are trying to help repatriate those who want it.” These, then, are the words of Tajani himself, who spoke on “24Mattino” on Radio 24. “We are committed 24 hours a day to helping them, following them, responding to their requests. The situation is not easy, but we are fully committed” , added the minister.
“Fears of escalation, we work to prevent this from happening”
In general, Tajani continued in his comment, “there are fears of an escalation, but we are working to prevent this from happening. We are supporting all initiatives with the aim of preventing the conflict from spreading beyond the borders of Israel and Palestine,” he said. “We are also watching with concern what is happening in Lebanon, but at the moment there are no signs of an imminent attack”, she further underlined, confirming the presence of Unifil, with “1,300 Italian soldiers”. “We follow the evolution of the situation minute by minute. There is a lot of tension, we work, together with the USA, France, Germany and Great Britain, so that there is no escalation, without prejudice to Israel’s sacrosanct right to defend itself because it has suffered an inhumane attack against the civilian population, not just against the military.”
“Over a thousand Italians in Unifil, working to defuse fuses in Lebanon”
”There are over a thousand Italians under the flag of the United Nations”, in the UNIFIL interposition force between Israel and Lebanon. And they are all ”bringers of peace”, concluded the foreign minister. It is ”a situation in total evolution” and ”at the moment there is some concern, but there are no signs of mass attacks like those launched by Hamas from Gaza”, he confirmed. However, it is necessary to ”keep the present risks under control” and ”work to defuse the fuses”.
