Taylor Swift, artist and businesswoman capable of influencing the masses

Taylor Swift she was crowned Time magazine’s ‘person of the year’. It is the first time this has happened: since 1927, when the prestigious American magazine began dedicating its end-of-year cover to the character who best represented the world, a pure entertainment character has been chosen. Just think that the famous American singer-songwriter and actress, 34 years old next December 13th, beat out the likes of Vladimir Putin, King Charles III and Donald Trump, to name a few, and in 2022 the award went to Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky. The 33-year-old pop star’s laconic comment on social media gives it away confidentiality which has always been her own, ed it’s part of its success: “This is the happiest and proudest moment I have ever experienced,” he wrote.

Born on December 13, 1989 in Reading, Pennsylvania, Taylor Swift began her musical career in a ‘canonical’ way, collecting successes with her albums and receiving the right tribute in terms of success and popularity. As of 2005, her discography consists of ten studio albums (plus four rerecorded), four live, four extended plays and sixty singles. It has sold over 200 million copies to date: she is the only artist in history, together with the Beatles, to have placed 11 songs simultaneously in the American Billboard Top 200 chart.

But, as time passed, it became clearer and clearer that her figure had something more, and the blonde interpreter of ‘Cruel Summer’, ‘Shake it off’ and ‘Anti-hero’ had a personality capable of influencing the masses and creating an empire. For starters, it is the queen of records: at 13 she became the youngest singer signed by Sony/Atv, she grossed a billion and a half dollars worldwide with her Eras tour, her concert film was a resounding success at the box office and she is the first artist woman who reached 100 million monthly streams on Spotify.

But Taylor Swift is also and above all one very powerful businesswoman and a public figure capable of conveying progressive political messages with which he moves the masses of his fans. As an entrepreneur, she has been able to impact the American GDP by almost 5 billion dollars additional thanks to the turnover generated by the 53 concerts of his ‘Erase Tour’ and to accumulate a fortune of over 1 billion dollars.

For a few years Swift has begun to openly support progressive policies and the defense of rights of the LGBTQ+ community, openly declaring his support for the US Democratic Party. “In a divided world, where too many institutions are failing, Taylor Swift has found a way to transcend boundaries and be a source of light – wrote the editor of Time, Sam Jacobs, in his motivations – no one else on the planet today can move so many people so well.” And not even to move them so well, one might add. Especially in view of the next American elections.
