The time of reckoning is coming. The clash between The Patriot and Starlight is ready to explode in all its destructive potential. And what will become of Billy Butcher and his The Boys? The Prime Video TV series, also visible on Sky Glass, Sky Q and via the Now Smart Stick app, will soon return to streaming with the fourth season, still without an official date but already with a trailer that heralds a decidedly spectacular new series of episodes and adrenaline-filled. You can see the trailer in the video at the top of this article.
What you see in the trailer
In the video released on Saturday 2 December by Prime Video you can see some new features. The first are horror elements that had been missing in previous seasons; the second concerns the already announced entry into the cast of Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Supernatural, The Walking Dead, Watchmen). But also many elements of continuity, with The Patriot increasingly villainous, and a final image from the trailer which once again represents all the extremely gore spirit of the series.
THE CAST OF THE SERIES
The main actors of the first three seasons return to the cast: Karl Urban will still be Billy Butcher, Jack Quaid is Hughie, Erin Moriarty is very confirmed in the role of Starlight and of course Antony Starr is still Patriot. Also returning are Tomer Capon (Frenchie), Karen Fukuhara (Kimiko), Jensen Ackles (Soldier Boy), Laz Alonso (Breast Milk), Chace Crawford (Abyss), Jessie T. Usher (A-Train), Dominique McElligott (Queen Maeve) , Colby Minifie (Barrett) and Claudia Doumit (Victoria Neuman), Nathan Mitchell (Black Noir, who returns in a new version after being killed by Homelander in the third season) Simon Pegg (Hughie’s father).
THE NEW ENTRY OF THE FOURTH SEASON
New entries in the cast are Susan Heyward as Sister Sage and Valorie Curry as Firecracker. In addition to them, the historical protagonists are Rob Benedict, Elliot Knight, Rosemarie DeWitt (the latter in the role of Hughie’s mother) and the aforementioned Jeffrey Dean Morgan, present in the first trailer but whose role still remains substantially shrouded in mystery.
There is still maximum confidentiality regarding the plot. Prime Video has not yet released an official synopsis and even in the description below the trailer on Youtube it is limited to a generic “Let’s get into it. The fourth season of #TheBoys awaits you in 2024.” “I can’t go into details, otherwise the Amazon snipers would shoot me, they would come out of the trees,” Erin Moriarty joked during an interview, but there is some certainty. Meanwhile, the fourth season will once again be a crescendo of madness and spectacularity, then the close connection with what was seen in the spin-off has already been made official Gen V.
AN EXPANDING UNIVERSE BORN FROM COMICS
Inspired by the comics created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson (published in Italy by Panini Comics), The Boys is a series that has had extraordinary success all over the world, so much so that it has led to the expansion of its narrative universe with a series of products connected. At the moment, two spin-offs have already been released, a series of animated shorts (The Boys Presents: Diabolical!) and the very recent live action Gen V, which brings the themes and context of The Boys to a teen environment. Both, like the main series, can be seen streaming on Prime Video and are also available on Sky Glass, Sky Q and via app on Now Smart Stick.
