A dream (or rather: a nightmare) come true for all big horror fans: you can camp around the house of the first film of the super cult horror saga The Conjuring.
Starting at $300 a night, you can camp near the infamous house located outside of Burrillville, Rhode Island. It is the house that inspired the most successful horror franchise in modern history, which began with the 2013 film.
The current owners have set up eight campsites on the grounds that the first film of the horror epic describe as haunted and affected by paranormal investigations. Anyone wishing to take advantage of this opportunity will only have to bring along their own equipment (in addition to $300 in their pocket, of course).
However, the house is off-limits
However, this camping experience will only give you access to the grounds located around the building, not the house itself. However there is a rich offer of tours and ghostly experiences separate from this gimmick of horror-tourism, so you can treat yourself to a nice thrill package on the days you camp around the hub of the progenitor of the film series The Conjuring.
But still those who believe in the paranormal believe that even the grounds of that area are as highly haunted as the creepy New England house, ergo the aforementioned “paranormal gullibles” will not blame anyone who feels like shelling out $ 300 to sleep in a tent around there…
It’s an absolutely awful (in the good sense of the word) way to celebrate the franchise’s 10th anniversary.
The huge success of the franchise of The Conjuring
“In terms of modern horror, there has been no more successful franchise than The Conjuring”, writes Shane Romanchick in a recent article published by the US magazine Colliders.
The film series is based on the real-life case files of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. The saga has spawned eight feature films to date and collectively has grossed over $2 billion at the global box office. It is thus the highest-grossing horror franchise of all time. The new taste of this delicious recipe in horror sauce is expected this fall, when the next film of the franchise entitled The Nun 2. But those who just can’t wait that long to get their scare with all the flakes, can camp this summer in the original house of the summoners to spend their equally original macabre holidays.
A truly scary location
While looking nothing like its cinematic counterpart, the location in question is just as scary. If not more.
There have been countless claims of people who have experienced the paranormal both on the grounds and in the house itself. Many families have tried living there over the years – including the Perron family, depicted in the first film of The Conjuring – and has since become a hotspot for paranormal investigators to test their skills and nerves. There are a number of horror stories and alleged demons connected to the property, so those who believe in the paranormal will find their match here.
The great return of supernatural horror with the haunted house
The films of the saga The Conjourning they are based on the Warrens’ cases, albeit very loosely.
What we owe to this franchise is to have revived the supernatural horror that revolves around the topos of the haunted house. The Conjourning brought the haunted house horror genre back into the mainstream.
Whether it’s the “Enfield Poltergeist” case of The Conjuring 2 or “The Devil Made Me Do It” from the third main film or the misadventures of Annabelle, viewers just can’t get enough of the ever-expanding universe of The Conjuring. While the film series seemed to be winding down before the release of The Nun 2recently the haunted narrative universe has been enriched with a new announcement: that of The Conjuring: Last Rites.
The highly anticipated new cinematic chapter: The Nun 2
The next film in the series, The Nun 2will arrive in cinemas on September 8, 2023, sanctioning the beginning of the season that most of all goes hand in hand with horror: autumn, that period that sends fans into raptures Halloween addict.
