The award ceremony of the Design Innovation Award, the award established by Confindustria Nautica and I Saloni Nautici with the aim of supporting the excellence of boating, promoting the image of exhibitors through their latest products. A charity evening in the scenographic cetacean room of the Genoa Aquarium dedicated to supporting the scientific research of the Institute for pediatric diseases Giannina Gaslini which was attended by authorities, exhibitors, Italian and foreign press.
The guests were welcomed by the actor and presenter Eric Alexander and Donatella Bianchi, well-known television journalist and President of the Cinque Terre Park, who introduced the greetings of Saverio Cecchi, President of Confindustria Nautica and Marco Bucci, Mayor of Genoa. The donation was delivered by the President of Confindustria Nautica Saverio Cecchi to Edoardo Garrone and Renato Botti, President and General Manager of the Gaslini Institute, and will be destined, as underlined by Garrone, “to the acquisition of electrocardiographs for the project that he plans to have the same type of ECG in the different departments, in order to obtain uniform and comparable analysis and reporting in the cardiology field with greater accuracy and precision, thanks to the uniformity of the technologies applied and networked among them “.

The evening continued with the delivery of the coveted Design Innovation Award, a third edition in strong growth due to both the increasing applications from exhibitors and the quality and innovation of the products of the exhibitors participating in the Show presented in all the different categories. The selection of the best products is directed by the criteria that characterize the good design and which take into account the quality of shape and the functionality, in a coherent relationship between them; to these criteria is added that of sustainabilitywhich intends to promote, in all sectors, a design and production improvement aware of respect for the environment.
Nine categories awarded selected by an independent jury, made up of national and international experts, coming from different sectors (professional designers, sector journalists, university researchers, shipowners who know the sector, or representatives of bodies and institutions in the sector) to allow for a transversal vision. The Design Innovation Award Jury, chaired in this edition by Donatella Bianchi, is composed of the designer Giovanna Talocci, the national and international nautical journalists Franco Michienzi – Director of BARCHE magazine and Nabil Farhat – Editor-In-Chief The World of Yachts & Boats, Silvia Piardi – Director of the Design Department of the Milan Polytechnic, Andrea Ratti – Chair M.Sc. Yacht & Cruising Vessel Design Politecnico di Milano, Luisa Bocchietto – Senator World Design Organization.
The following received the Design Innovation Award: Dufour Yachts’ Dufour 37 for sailing vessels up to 10m LH, for the ability to transfer unparalleled performance and comfort into a boat of limited size and cost; SQ 240i by Capoforte Boats for motor boats up to 10m LH for the proposal of an aerodynamic boat with electric propulsion; Inagua S by Rio Yachts for the pneumatic units for the elegant line, the simplicity of the solutions and the attention to detail; Grand Soleil 72 Performance by Cantiere del Pardo for sailboats over 10m LH for its ability to combine the experience of the shipyard with a balanced boat in terms of navigation performance and quality of interior spaces. Honorable mention for interior design for the refined search for a nautical language attentive to detail in the choice of shapes and materials at Y7 by Yachts.
For multihulls he won the Prestige M48 award from Prestige Yachts for the search for a type that combines comfort, efficiency and performance. Honorable mention for the research and use of materials for Excess 14 by Excess for having obtained high levels of navigation performance through careful research on shapes and materials.
The Design Innovation Award was then assigned to Lascala Art. Spe 607 by Besenzioni for the components and accessories category for technological research in relation to electrical operation with simplified use; Ferretti Yachts 860 new by Ferretti Yachts for the motor boats over 10m LH category for the elegance of the exterior and interior lines in line with the quality of the brand; at SP 110 by Sanlorenzo Yacht for the superyacht category over 24 m LH for the constant ability to create innovative spaces, languages and ways of living the sea, arousing emotions.
Special Innovation Award to Betty Buoys for integrated research efforts focused on sustainable solutions to an urgent problem. The Steering Committee of the Design Innovation Award has decided to assign the Special Career Award to the Hydrographic Institute of the Navy, on the occasion of its 150th anniversary, in particular for its commitment to digitize processes in the field of nautical cartography. Finally, the “Liguria Region” Special Award was awarded to Permare’s Indoor Air Quality Monitoring for Yachting for having brought on board a monitoring system aimed at environmental quality. To make the Gala Dinner of the 62nd International Boat Show in Genoa even more special, excellence among excellence, the participation of the master pastry chef Iginio Massari who dedicated a creation of him to the stars of Italian yachting.
