Miranda Priestly and Andy Sachs they are back. Seventeen years later The devil wears Prada, Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway celebrated with a mini-reunion. The occasion? The second edition of Albie Awardsorganized by the Clooney Foundation for Justice.
Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway together again
No style errors, this time, for Andy Sachs / Anne Hathaway. Indeed, the actress appeared super smiling in hers long diamond dress lime green and chrome grey, with floral details. Meryl Streep, who looked like she just stepped out of the magazine Runways, instead opted for a sparkly black top, black trousers and dress shoes. The two were photographed while posing, holding each other. Furthermore, another of Miranda Priestly’s “assistants” was also present at the event: Emily Bluntwho played Emily Charlton, walked the red carpet with her husband John Krasinski.
Meryl Streep’s choice
Based on the novel of the same name by Lauren Weisberger, released in 20003, The Devil Wears Prada follows Andy’s story. Chosen as the reluctant assistant of the demanding publisher Miranda Priestly, the young girl is thrown headlong into the world of fashion.
The film, directed by David Frankel, immediately became a cult.
In 2021, Frankel confessed to Entertainment Weekly that Rachel McAdams, Scarlett Johansson, Natalie Portman, Kate Hudson And Kirsten Dunst were all considered for the role of Andy, before Hathaway landed the part.
It was Metyl Streep who pushed for her. “The movie was about to come out Brokeback Mountain, in which Anne had a small role. Meryl watched that scene, met her, called Tom Rothman at Fox and said she was great and would work well with her.”
For her part, Hathaway describes that yes as the simplest yes of her life.
