Written and directed by Sean Durkin, it tells the true story of the Von Erich family, focusing on the three brothers who managed to make history in the highly competitive world of professional wrestling in the 1980s .
The now legendary film studio A24 has released the first trailer for The Iron Clawa biopic that focuses mainly on the life of professional wrestler Kevin Von Erich, played on set by star Zac Efron.
In addition to him, the cast includes Jeremy Allen White, Harris Dickinson, Maura Tierney, Holt McCallany and Lily James.
The Iron Claw chronicles the tragedies and triumphs of three brothers who lived in the shadow of their father and dominant coach.
The mythical character that Efron plays is also known as the Golden Warrior, a member of the famous Von Erich wrestling dynasty.
Jeremy Ellen White plays Kerry Von Erich, Kevin’s brother who competed in the heavyweight division. Holt McCallany plays Fritz Von Erich, Kevin and Kerry’s father, who was also a wrestler, and what a wrestler: three times world champion.
The Von Erich dynasty has thus had a major impact on professional wrestling since the 1960s, starting with the career of patriarch Fritz Von Erich (Jack Barton Adkisson), played in the film by Mindhunter star Holt McCallany.
The cast also includes Stanley Simons as Mike Von Erich, Maura Tierney as Doris and Lily James as Kevin’s wife Pam.

The Iron Claw chronicles the lives of members of the Von Erich family (real name Adkisson) and describes their rise and fall.
It is produced and distributed by A24, the studio that has become very popular in recent years, churning out masterpieces such as Everything, Everywhere all at Once And Priscillajust to mention just two titles out of the many from chapeau. A24 financed and produced The Iron Claw together with Access Entertainment and BBC Films.
Tessa Ross, Juliette Howell, Angus Lamont and Sean Durkin are the producers. Derrin Schlesinger and Harrison Huffman are executive producers for House Productions, Len Blavatnik and Danny Cohen for Access Entertainment and Eva Yates for BBC Film.
The Iron Claw will arrive in US theaters on December 22nd. The film has obtained a temporary permit from SAG-AFTRA and will be able to use its cast in promotion.
