The Sims 4 goes free today on computers and consoles
At a streaming event to celebrate 22 years of The Sims, Electronic Arts and Maxis gave a glimpse into the future of the series: Maxis gave fans a taste of the very early stages of the game and the next-generation creative platform of The Sims, with the working title of Project Rene. Additionally, new updates have been introduced for The Sims FreePlay and The Sims Mobile. The Sims FreePlay will add a Sim face update for pre-teen, teen, adult, and senior life stages. Additionally, the annual “Christmas in the Heir” seasonal mission will arrive in the game in December with a new special narrative, while the ability to build and live in a luxury superyacht will be introduced in early 2023. The Sims Mobile will launch balconies , a new build / purchase addition, during this year’s holidays. The feature offers players the opportunity to recreate buildings with balconies and the ability to customize them through various styles. For the first time in the history of The Sims, the studio then announced a new destination for The Sims 4 players to download mods and user-generated content thanks to a new collaboration with Overwolf, managers of CurseForge, a mod manager and a user-generated content discovery platform. For years, The Sims 4 community has been expanded by modders and custom content creators, and today it is recognized by the game’s parent company.
