The European Commission has asked all employees with the TikTok app installed on company devices and personal devices with access to the Commission’s mobile phone service to uninstall it as soon as possible. This was confirmed by the European executive after press rumors in this regard.
“We are very careful to protect our data”
“The European Commission is an institution and as such has a strong focus on cyber security protection and that is where we made this decision.” This was stated by the European Commissioner for the Internal Market Thierry Breton in a meeting with the press when asked about the decision to ask Commission employees to uninstall TikTok from employees’ mobile phones. “We are extremely careful about protecting our data.” The decision to ban TikTok, he clarified, was taken by EU Commissioner Johannes Hahn.
Through a statement, the Chinese video giant TikTok deplored the European Union’s decision, calling it “wrong”.
