Twitter, Musk launches ‘amnesty’: “But decision on Trump has not been made”

“The new policy is freedom of speech, but not freedom of access. Negative or hateful posts will be disempowered and demonetized”

Amnesty or almost on Twitter, but not for Donald Trump. Elon Musk, owner of the social network, illustrates the new line from his own profile. “Twitter’s new policy is free speech, but not free access. Negative or hateful tweets will be maxed out and demonetized, so no advertising or other revenue on Twitter. You won’t find the tweet unless you you specifically search for it, which is no different than the rest of the internet,” Musk says.

Then, the tycoon formalizes a series of ‘measures of clemency’: “Kathie Griffin, Jorden Peterson and Babylon Bee have been reinstated”. And Donald Trump, banned after the assault on Congress on January 6, 2021? “The decision on Trump has not yet been made,” Musk underlines again, freezing the file relating to the former US president who, last Tuesday, announced his candidacy for the 2024 elections.
