Ukraine, 007 Gb: “Criticism of military leaders in Russia increases”

The latest intelligence update from the London Ministry of Defense

Russian military leaders are under increasing pressure from “increasingly diverse actors within the Russian system” in light of the setbacks Russian forces are undergoing in Ukraine. This is what it signals the latest intelligence update from the London Ministry of Defensestressing that although criticism has not so far been directed at the political leadership, the tendency “to publicly express dissent against the Russian establishment” could be “probably difficult to reverse”.

The assessment cites Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov and Wagner Group owner Yevgeny Prigozhin, as well as “state-approved TV presenters, pop stars and an increasingly outspoken community of ultra-nationalist military bloggers.” In the case of Kadyrov and Prigozhin, regarded as key figures within a “pro-war bloc”, their criticisms “are based on arguments in favor of greater commitment by the state and readiness to escalate”.
