Ukraine, bombs on Kiev and Russian raids on various cities

Alarm sirens in the capital. Vitali Klitschko: “Go to the shelters”. Also affected Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia and three other regions of the country

Ukrainian authorities have reported a Russian shelling in the center of Kiev, sounding alarm sirens in the capital and the surrounding area. The mayor of the Ukrainian capital, Vitali Klitschko, reported that it occurred in the Dnipro district, on the left bank of the river that divides the city. “Explosions in the Dnipro district. All services go to the scene, go to shelters,” he wrote on his Telegram account.

The adviser to the Ukrainian presidency, Kirilo Timoshenko, specified that the attack was directed, around 9.30 local time, against “critical infrastructure installations”. An uninhabited area and an apartment building were hit in Kiev.

Russia has resumed missile raids against several cities. In addition to Kiev, they were affected Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia and three other regions of the country. These are the first bombings, which have taken place as part of a campaign that began in mid-October, since the beginning of the year. The Office of the President has urged civilians not to ignore the air warnings and to seek refuge. In Kharkiv the subway was closed after the explosions registered in the morning. In some districts of the city near the border with Russia, the electricity supply was suspended.
