Putin: “Kiev should recognize the new territorial realities”

In the conversation with Erdogan, Putin “underlined the destructive role of Western states, which have strengthened the Kiev regime with weapons and military equipment, providing it with operational information and the designation of targets”, reads the Kremlin’s note. “In the light of Turkey’s willingness to mediate for a political solution to the conflict, Putin reiterated Russia’s openness to a serious dialogue – provided that “the Kiev authorities satisfy the well-known and repeatedly expressed requests and take into account the new territorial realities”, the Russian presidency said. During the conversation, issues related to the further expansion of trade and economic ties were also discussed, mainly in the energy sector: “The priority importance of implementing joint projects strategically such as the creation of a regional gas hub in Turkey and the construction of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant”. It is also noted that “considering the validity of the Istanbul agreements of July 22, 2022 on the export of Ukrainian grain and the unblocking of supplies of food products and fertilizers from Russia, the need for an integrated approach was underlined c unaware, which implies the removal of all obstacles to Russian exports”. In the conversation between Putin and Erdogan attention was also paid to the situation in Syria. “The meeting of defense ministers held in Moscow in December 2022 with the participation of the top intelligence services of Russia, Turkey and Syria was positively assessed. The wish was expressed that the development of contacts in such a trilateral format would contribute to a fundamental improvement of the situation in the Syrian Arab Republic, including the restoration of its territorial integrity, the resolution of the refugee problem and the task of combating international terrorist structures,” the Kremlin added.
