Ukraine, exchange of 10 foreign prisoners between Moscow and Kiev

The announcement by the Saudi government after the mediation of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman

The Saudi government has announced one exchange of ten prisoners of war between Russia and Ukraine thanks to mediation of the crown prince Mohammed bin Salman. The group includes American, British, Swedish, Croatian and Moroccan citizens. “The competent Saudi authorities have received and transferred them from Russia to the Kingdom and are facilitating the procedures for their safe return to their respective countries”, reads a statement from the Saudi Foreign Ministry.

And British Prime Minister Liz Truss confirmed the release of five fellow Russian prisoners of war in eastern Ukraine. In a statement he wrote that their release, thanks to Saudi mediation, puts an end to “months of uncertainty and suffering for them and their families. Russia must stop the ruthless exploitation of prisoners of war and civilian detainees for political ends” , he said.
