This is what the German Chancellor said referring to the most recent telephone conversation with the Russian president
The telephone conversations had with Vladimir Putin since the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine they have always had “friendly tones” even if there were “very, very contrasting, enormously different positions”. This is what the German Chancellor said, Olaf Scholz, in an interview on public radio Deutschlandfunk which will be broadcast tomorrow. Referring to the most recent conversation he had with the Russian president last Tuesday, the German Chancellor said that on Putin’s part “there was definitely a movement” but not particularly substantial.
Scholz reiterated the need for a diplomatic solution to the war, which includes, as soon as possible, a ceasefire and the complete withdrawal of Russian troops with respect for Ukrainian territorial integrity and sovereignty.
