Ukraine, the first Leopard 2 tanks arrive in March: the announcement

Poland communicates the news. Canada’s tanks are also on the way

The German-made Leopard 2 tanks will be delivered from Poland to Ukraine in mid-March. This was announced by Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak in Brussels, adding that ”Ukrainian soldiers have been training in Poland” since the beginning of February ”on how to operate these tanks. They will be ready in mid-March”. There is therefore a first date, at least broadly speaking, for the effective start of the supply of Leopard 2 tanks to the Kiev army.

Meanwhile, the tanks promised by Canada to Ukraine have arrived in Poland, where Canadian instructors have already begun training the Ukrainian units. This was stated by Canadian Defense Minister Anita Anand, speaking with journalists on the occasion of the NATO ministerial in Brussels, writes Ukrinform. “We have announced the sending of four tanks to Poland. It has already happened, the tanks are in Poland,” said Anand. 25 Canadian instructors also arrived in the country and began training Ukrainian soldiers.

Norway will supply Ukraine with eight Leopard 2 tanks as well as ammunition, spare parts and up to four support vehicles, the government announced in Oslo, disclosing details of its contribution to strengthening Kiev’s army. Norway’s defense ministry, however, did not specify when the tanks would be delivered, but Minister Bjorn Arild Gram, currently in Brussels for a meeting in the Ramstein format, told Norwegian media it would be imminent.
