The Ukrainian president: “Courage and valor are virtues that drive us to do good and overcome evil”
“Freedom comes at a high price, but slavery costs even more”. That’s what he writes Volodymyr Zelensky in a post on Telegram. “In this battle we have a powerful and effective weapon: the hammer and swords of our spirit and our conscience – says the Ukrainian president – courage and valor are virtues that push us to do good and overcome evil. The act of greater courage is perseverance and bringing one’s commitment to a conclusion regardless of everything: the truth illuminates our path – he concludes – we know this truth and we protect it: our truth is the fight for freedom”.
Zelenskiy called the fighting in the eastern regions of Bakhmut, Kreminna and other areas of Donbass “difficult and painful” for Ukrainian troops. Speaking about the situation at the front in his televised speech last night, Zelensky mentioned “the front line. Bakhmut, Kreminna and other areas of Donbass, which now require maximum strength and concentration. The situation is difficult, acute. The occupiers are using all the resources at their disposal – and these are significant resources – to achieve at least some conquests”.
Donetsk regional governor Pavlo Kyrylenko announced yesterday that more than 60 percent of the infrastructure in the city of Bakhmut, which has been the scene of intense fighting, is partially or completely destroyed. “Russia is constantly bombing the infrastructure in Bakhmut. The enemy continues with the scorched earth tactic,” he said.
