The Ukrainian president: “Moscow is preparing provocations, it could simulate an attack”
Russia Prepares Provocation at Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, Where Moscow Soldiers Are Alleged to Plant Explosives. It is the alarm that the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, triggered in a phone call with the French president Emmanuel Macron. “I warned Emmanuel Macron, the occupation troops are preparing dangerous provocations at the Zaporizhzhia plant. We agree, we will keep the situation under very strict control with the IAEA”, Zelensky said in the usual evening message.
“We have information from our intelligence that the Russian military placed explosive-like objects on the roof of several units of the Zaporizhzhia NPP. Perhaps to simulate an attack on the plant,” Zelensky added, stressing that “the only danger to the nuclear plant is Russia and no one else.”
The Ukrainian president recalled that there was no timely and large-scale response to the terrorist attack on the Kakhovka hydroelectric plant. And this could prompt Moscow to take a new action of this type. “It’s everyone’s responsibility in the world to stop this,” Zelensky said.
The Ukrainian leader also discussed the developments of the war with the French president, in particular after the revolt of Evgeny Prigozhin’s Wagner who, 10 days ago, marched towards Moscow, stopping 200 km from the capital and the Kremlin. “After Prigozhin’s actions, the whole world saw that Russia has no room for maneuver on the battlefield. And for us, on the contrary, a window of opportunity opens up. We must act decisively, both militarily and politically. Therefore, it is very important that the NATO summit in Vilnius” which will take place on 11 and 12 July “be productive”, he added, referring to the international appointment scheduled for next week.
