The Italian champions move up to 6 points, second in Group C behind Real Madrid
Napoli wins 1-0 at Unione Berlin in the match valid for the third day of Group C of the Champions League. Raspadori’s goal gives success to the Italian champions who rise to 6 points and are second in the standings behind Real Madrid, leaders with 9 full points.
Rudi Garcia, still without Osimhen and Anguissa, confirms the starting team seen against Verona with Meret between the posts, Di Lorenzo and Mario Rui on the outside and Rrahmani and Natan in the center of defence. Then Cajuste with Lobotka and Zielinski in midfield and a trident made up of Politano, Raspadori and Kvaratskhelia. On the other hand, Fischer, compared to the defeat against Stuttgart, confirms Knoche, Diogo Leite and Doekhi in defense with Bonuci on the bench. Trimmel and Gosens on the wings while Becker and Fofana forward.
Napoli were subdued in the first half and Union Berlin was more enterprising with few opportunities mostly falling to the German hosts while Napoli managed possession of the ball more without however ever stinging. Napoli struggled to find dangerous patterns of play with Union who became dangerous again in the second half in the 61st minute with Becker receiving the ball in the penalty area and trying a cross shot but Meret blocked it to the ground without any problems. At the first real attack, however, Garcia’s team finds the advantage: in the 65th minute Kvaratskhelia skips Trimmel in the area and from the back serves Raspadori who beats Ronnwo for 1-0. At this point the Germans are forced to reveal themselves and Napoli look for the decisive attack but Elmas shoots from the edge without finding the target. The home team’s reaction came in the 80th minute when Knoche headed towards the far post, Meret didn’t get there but the ball went just wide. The Germans try until the end but Napoli’s defense holds and brings home a success that gives peace of mind in the Cup.
