“The fact that 50 percent of students who graduate from high school do not enroll in university is a serious fact.” This was stated in a note by Alessia Conti, President of the national council of university students, on the sidelines of the second day of the three-day XX national conference of CoDAU, the organization that brings together the General Directors of all Italian universities, scheduled in Naples at the Federico II University.

“Added to this – continues Conti – is that between the first and second year one student in seven leaves university. Evidently there is a problem of accessibility. For us as a student community it is essential that at university they address the problem of how to be more accessible and who build, with the community and representatives, policies to make the university a welcoming place where there is not just a rush to graduate but where there is also attention to psychological well-being. The university must recover this social role, it must once again put the student at the center.”
