Valditara: “School-work alternation must be reviewed”

The minister on Twitter: “Students and their lives must be protected”. Minister Calderone: “The regulation on compensation will be correct”

“The school-work alternation needs to be reviewed: we need to protect #students and their lives. We are working to prepare fairer and more advanced legislation together with Minister Calderone”. This was stated by the Minister of Education Joseph Vallettara on Twitter.

“When a young person dies during a period of school-work alternation in the company, it is a serious defeat for the system created to protect the life of every worker. My deepest sympathy goes to the parents as Minister of Labor and Social Policies and as a mother, aware that no economic compensation will ever ease their pain”, declared the Minister of Labour, Marina Calderone, in a note, speaking on the tragic death, in September, of Giuliano De Seta in a factory in Noventa di Piave (Venice), but not compensated by Inail on the basis of current legislation. “But to this is added the sense of profound injustice that derives from the existing regulatory vulnerability which allows financial compensation to family members, only when the main income recipient suffers the fatal accident. This rule has been in force for too long to survive still in our system and has affected many other families in recent years. It must be changed immediately and we will do it with the next decree we are working on these days, the first useful regulatory vehicle”, announces Calderone.

“For this reason, I had already convened a technical roundtable on occupational safety and the most urgent correctives to the legislation for January 12, which will be attended by all the social and employers’ parties, the Ministers of the University and that of Education, Inail and the National Labor Inspectorate. The accident emergency at work is a priority on my agenda”, underlines Calderone.
