The woman would have been attacked on December 8, 2021, a few months after the attack reported by the first victim
A second alleged victim of the journalist Enrico Varriale speaks in the courtroom, on trial in Rome before the monocratic judge for stalking and injuries. The woman would have been attacked on December 8, 2021, a few months after the attack reported by the first victim who joined the civil party in the proceedings.
The witness, who presented a complaint from which a second tranche of investigation started, reported that she contacted the first victim the day after the journalist had beaten her to tell her: ”I know what you went through, it also happened to me”. However, the journalist’s defense disputed what the witness reported and filed an expert report on the messages that Varriale and the woman exchanged during their relationship, some of which the woman said she never sent.
“Today’s hearing revealed that Enrico Varriale is the subject of false accusations. The witness stated that Varriale did not suffer any trauma to the eye. The circumstance is documentedly denied by a photo that Varriale sent to the witness and by messages of the same witness. Having taken note of this, the defenders are evaluating whether to file a complaint for false statements”, say the criminal lawyers Ester Molinaro and Fabio Lattanzi, who assist the journalist accused in Rome in a process for stalking and injuries.
