Volleyball Women’s World Cup, Italy-Belgium 3-1

Egonu and her companions will take the field on Thursday at 6 pm against Kenya

The women’s Italvolley is imposed, in the splendid GelreDome Arena in Arnhem, in the Netherlands, also on the Belgiansor in the third match of the Volleyball World Cup. After the clear debut victory against Cameroon and the 3-0 and the second slightly more complicated victory against Puerto Rico, the European champions stretch Belgium 3-1 (21-25, 30-28, 29- 27, 25-9), struggling a lot in the first three partial but showing character and ability to react to difficulties, closing the challenge with authority in the fourth partial. The blues thus rise to 9 points in the group ahead of Belgium with 6. Egonu and her teammates will take the field on Thursday at 18 with Kenya and on Sunday 2 October in the last match of the group against Holland at 16.

After a complicated first set, Mazzanti’s girls took a huge risk in the second, winning it in the sprint. In the third set, practically closed by the opponents, the blue gave birth to an incredible comeback. Dominated by the European champions the last part that allowed Orro and her companions to obtain a very precious victory. Tomorrow Italy will have a rest day, before returning to the field against Kenya on Thursday.
