The children were able to see the Volvo FH Electric up close and learn important road safety concepts
The Volvo Trucks Italia headquarters hosted the first stage of the Electric Tour 2023, a journey along the peninsula of the Volvo FH Electric, the 100% electric version of the iconic Volvo Trucks vehicle. The first of the sixteen scheduled stages also saw children as protagonists who, just like adults, were able to see the Volvo FH Electric up close, but also learn important concepts of road safety.
The morning was, in fact, dedicated to the “Stop, Look and Wave” programme. “It is a road safety education program launched in 2015 and mainly aimed at primary school children. It has already been developed by over 30 countries and in Italy we have reached around 300,000 children” explained Massimo Luksch, HR director of Volvo Trucks Italia.
The Volvo Trucks Italia headquarters in Zingonia was thus overwhelmed by the cheering voices of these children from a comprehensive school in Osio Sotto and from an Atalanta youth team. Divided into four classes, the kids were able to enter the cab of the Volvo FH Electric, challenge each other with quizzes on road safety and enter the Volvo Trucks Italia workshop.
The goal is to raise awareness on the subject more and more. “It is a program that is giving great satisfaction – concludes Luksch – Safety, quality and respect for the environment are our three values and we want a world with zero road accidents involving Volvo vehicles”.
