The Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant “cannot be protected”: said the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi after yesterday’s visit, quoted by Sky news international. According to Grossi, the number of troops in the region of the plant, occupied by military units from Moscow, has increased significantly and it is no longer possible to protect it. “It is obvious that military activity is increasing throughout the region. So the plant cannot be protected,” he said. (UKRAINE RUSSIA WAR. ALL UPDATES)
Yesterday’s inspection of the Zaporizhzhia plant
Grossi was visiting the plant yesterday and on that occasion he admitted that he was “trying” to reach a compromise between Moscow and Kiev to “avoid a catastrophe” in the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant, occupied by the Russians. “I’m trying to prepare and propose realistic measures that will be approved by all parties,” Grossi said on the plant’s website. According to Grossi, this compromise would concern the plant itself and not just a safety zone around it, the subject of previous failed negotiations.
