Bad weather over Italy and today the orange and yellow weather alert goes off. On the basis of the phenomena expected for today, Monday 3 April, an orange alert was assessed on sectors of Calabria and Sicily and a yellow alert on the remaining territory of the two regions, in Abruzzo, Umbria, Molise, Basilicata and Puglia.

According to the Civil Protection, a depressive structure centered on Sardinia will move towards Sicily over the next few hours, causing a sharp worsening of the weather conditions on the island and on Calabria. At the same time we will see an intensification of northern ventilation over most of Italy which will strengthen, up to a strong storm, especially along the coasts and in the Apennine sectors.

From the early hours of today strong to gale force winds from the northern quadrants on Veneto, Emilia-Romagna, Marche, Umbria, Lazio, Abruzzo, Molise, Campania, Puglia, Basilicata, Calabria and Sicily, with gusts of strong gale especially along the coastal sectors and on the Apennine ones. Sea storms along exposed coasts.

In addition, from early morning tomorrow, scattered to widespread rainfall, mainly downpours or thunderstorms, is expected in Calabria and Sicily, especially in the northern sectors of the island. The phenomena will be accompanied by heavy showers, frequent electrical activity, possible hailstorms and strong gusts of wind.
