Wednesday 24th in Rome presentation of the Observatory on religious bodies and non-profit organisations


On January 24, 2024 at 3 pm in Rome, at Palazzo Cardinal Cesi, the University Research Center “Observatory on religious bodies, ecclesiastical heritage and non-profit organizations” will be presented, promoted by prof. Giovanni Francesco Nicoletti, Magnificent Rector of the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli”, who highlighted that “the establishment of this new Research Center represents a strategic element in the actions to promote the University’s scientific research in a crucial sector for the development of a supportive and pluralist society due to the significant contribution provided by religious bodies and the Third Sector in many areas of constitutional relevance”.

The works will be introduced by prof. Nicoletti, Magnificent Rector of the “Vanvitelli” University, by Prof. Raffaele Picaro, Director of the Department of Law, and by Dr. Domenico Airoma, National Vice President of the Rosario Livatino Study Center, and will focus on the presentation of the new structure which will have the ‘important task of promoting the development of basic and applied research, promoting the dissemination of results in the scientific world and encouraging collaboration also with external bodies in the field of ecclesiastical heritage, religious bodies and non-profit organisations. The actions implemented will also have the aim of identifying national and international best practices in the management of the heritage of religious bodies, also with the aim of ensuring its correct administration and valorisation.

The initiative, curated by the Chairs of Ecclesiastical and Canon Law directed by Prof. Antonio Fuccillo, involves the participation of important religious, civil and academic authorities among which the presence of HE Rev. Mariano Crociata – President of the Commission of the Episcopates of the the European Union (COMECE), as well as that of HE Rev. Mons. Giuseppe Andrea Salvatore Baturi, General Secretary of the Italian Episcopal Conference.

The introductory session will be followed by the work of a thematic round table coordinated by Prof. Raffaele Santoro which will see among the participants Dr. Luca Anziani, President of the Association of Methodist Churches in Italy, Dr. Massimo Cozzolino, General Secretary of the Italian Islamic Confederation , Dr. Livia Ottolenghi, Councilor for Educational Policies of the Union of Italian Jewish Communities, the Very Rev. Emanuele Frediani, President of the Apostolic Church in Italy, the Very Rev. Li Xuanzong, Prefect General of the Taoist Church of Italy and Vice President of the World Federation of Daoism and Fr. Luigi Sabbarese, Judicial Vicar of the Tribunal of the Vicariate of the Vatican City State .

The presentation of the objectives of the Observatory which will be curated by the teachers: Prof. Miriam Abu Salem, Prof. Ludovica Decimo, Prof. Paolo Palumbo and Prof. Francesco Sorvillo. The conclusions will be entrusted to Prof. Carlo Venditti, Professor of Civil Law and Director of the School of Specialization for Legal Professions of the Department of Law of the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli”.
