The extraordinary commissioner appointed by the government to build works against drought faster is Nicola Dell’Acqua, director of Veneto Agriculture, an institution of the Veneto Region, and former coordinator of all the projects commissioned in Veneto against drought. Dell’Acqua will remain in office until the end of the year. He also opened the possibility of a renewal until the end of 2024. The role of commissioner was established last April 6 and since then the appointment has been awaited.

Dell’Acqua from Verona, 58, was born in Castelnuovo del Garda and has held various public positions in the agricultural sector. A meeting will take place on Friday with the Minister of Infrastructure Matteo Salvini to define the list of urgent works on the basis of the lists made by the ministries and the Regions. In the list of objectives declared by the government, the commissioner should simplify the procedures for building water works such as dams, canals and reservoirs, as well as supporting a plan to build water collection tanks for agricultural use, reuse plants of wastewater and for desalination.
