Among sugared almonds, historic trains and stories of transhumance
Two days to discover Sulmona, Abruzzo and the historic train with the FS Foundation.
This the Winter Instameet left yesterday, Saturday 14 January, and today Sunday 15 January 2023 near Sulmona.
Actively organizing the event dedicated to the IgersItalia community are IgersAbruzzo in collaboration with the FS Foundation.
Yesterday the event started with the exclusive Empty museum at the Fabbrica di Confetti Pelino, the oldest confectionery in the world followed by an exceptional vernissage of the photographic exhibition “Aqua Migrans – Tales of the traveling sap” by the nature photographer Francesco Lemma, at the archaeological site of the Domus di Arianna, in the Palazzo dell’Annunziata. The day then concluded in the multimedia room of the Palazzo dell’Annunziata with the conference entitled “The Journeys to the Snow”with Antonio Carfagnini, economic historian, and the nature photographer Francesco Lemma.
Today is characterized by the historic and snowy experience on the Historic train from the early 1900s on the Italian Trans-Siberian where the Sulmona-Roccaraso section will be covered.
It is an event that will put together passionate about photography, travel, culture and tourism, to promote the entire cultural, historical, artistic, landscape, Abruzzo heritage, and will do through people and their stories. It will be a journey full of encounters that will be told.
“Often, while travelling, we happen to listen to those around us even without wanting to and those who travel know this well. The human being is beauty, because each one is unique and unrepeatable, like the story of each of us. This is why we have thought of a journey not only of tourist, landscape and cultural interest, but also linked to human life, which is nothing more than a journey, and to the stories it inevitably brings with it. We want to tell stories and we want to do it on board this extraordinary train that has a very powerful magical power: it enters your heart and remains in your memory. In the heart of Italy, along plateaus and valleys that recall the Siberian ones (hence the name), you cross small villages where time seems to have stopped and nature continues to be untouched. It’s a slow journey and this is a real philosophy”, Antonella Di Cintio, Editorial Director of Igersitalia and Regional Manager for Abruzzo, tells Adnkronos.
“This event aims to combine the many virtues of our territory, from the scenic beauty, to the historical and cultural heritage, to the gastronomic traditions”, adds Francesca Salvati, representing IgersLaquila, “I am very happy that the cities of Sulmona and Roccaraso have welcomed our idea for this event, allowing us to promote a territory with so much potential on a national scale, always in line with the general principles of our association regarding the promotion of the territory”.
Photographers, photojournalists, journalists, writers, creatives will be present on this trip to the heart of Abruzzo and on board the Trans-Siberian, together with many travelers who love this region of unspoiled nature and culture in all its forms and nuances. Particularity of the event will be the creation of small literary salons on board the Trans-Siberian during the return journey, in which some exceptional guests will be interviewed live.
