Thanks to this success, Davide Mazzanti’s team is confirmed in first position in Group E with 25 points, 8 wins and one defeat, and is already qualified for the quarter finals of the women’s world championship.
A clear and deserved success for the European champions, who are guaranteed therearithmetic first place in the pool E. Mazzanti’s girls, already sure of the pass for the quarter-finals, will return to the field on Tuesday 11 October in Apeldoorn to face the 4th classified of the Rotterdam pool. To know the name of an opponent between Brazil, Japan, China and Belgium, we will have to wait for the outcome of the latest matches scheduled between today and tomorrow. Italy lined up on the field with the only novelty compared to yesterday, Marina Lubian took the place of Cristina Chirichella kept at rest as a precaution. The rest of the line-up confirmed: Orro dribbling, opposite Egonu, Bosetti and Sylla spikers, Danesi in the center, De Gennaro free.
In the first set the two teams started strong and the duel started immediately (7-8). The Asians tried to put the blues in difficulty with the joke, but one great Paola Egonu she pushed her companions on (15-13). Orro often relied on the center and Marina Lubian was ready, hurting her opponents even on the serve (21-19). The blue wall worked perfectly (Danesi excellent) and the attack by China did nothing (19-10). The finale confirmed the superiority of Mazzanti’s girls and the set ended with a clear (25-16). The blues tried to repeat the script in the third set (10-8), however China put up more resistance (10-11). After a brief phase of equilibrium, Egonu and her companions broke the tie (17-14). Once in command, the national team managed the advantage, and the Chinese were forced to give up (25-20).
