Xi Jinping in his end-of-year speech: “China will definitely be reunified in Taiwan”


In his end-of-year speech, Xi Jinping promised that China “will definitely be reunified.” Adding, to state news agency Xinhua, that “all Chinese on both sides of the Taiwan Strait should be bound by a common goal and share the glory of the renewal of the Chinese nation.” Furthermore, “reunification” with Taiwan is a “historical inevitability”. The Chinese president also underlined the need to “maintain long-term prosperity and stability” and “better integration into the grand national development plan” of the semi-autonomous regions of Hong Kong and Macao.
