Xiaomi presented an interesting light tablet, performing and with a competitive price, ideal in our opinion for family entertainment, for games but also for study and for work use (navigation, mail writing, calculations): we are talking about Xiaomi Hall 5.
The main features
The tablet is compact and manageable (it is always better to apply a cover, however, because it can be slippery if used without), has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 860 processor and a super-fluid and bright 11-inch WQHD + display, with refresh rate up to 120 Hz. The display is very well readable and has integrated a Low Blue Light mode which reduces the annoying blue light to our eyes and a reading mode which adjusts the colors and textures of the elements on the screen allowing the eyes to relax. Good sound level diffused by the four speakers, equipped with Dolby Atmos system. Among other features, Xiaomi Pad 5 has a 13 megapixel rear camera capable of taking photos and scanning documents, while the 8 megapixel front camera is suitable for video calls and business meetings. In our opinion, the battery is also very good, which with a capacity of 8,720 mAh is able to power the tablet for an average use of several days, and certainly with intense use even two days.
The pen
There is no self-respecting tablet without a stylus with which to write, draw, take notes, sign documents. And so also in this case it is possible to buy the Xiaomi Smart Pen separately (list price: 99.90 euros). It has a very elegant dark gray design and color and a magnet on the right side of the tablet that allows you to recharge it and store it safely. Through the two buttons on the pen you can capture screenshots on the fly or activate the eraser. The coupling is immediate and the pen, Xiaomi promises, has 4,096 points of pressure sensitivity. In our test we noticed that there is a very slight delay (which in some cases can be a bit annoying) between the moment we write and the moment in which the stroke appears on the display. The other negative side, on the other hand, concerns the application for taking notes which in addition to the full screen mode also offers the possibility of opening a blank sheet “on the fly” that is positioned in a part of the screen, a useful function, however, to be improved: while we write, in fact, other accidental touches of the hand on the screen are not inhibited.
Verdict, availability and pricing
Xiaomi Pad 5 is, therefore, a very interesting tablet, with a competitive price that can be useful, as we said, to families, students and those who work. In our test we instead had some difficulties in using the pen, and therefore for the moment perhaps it is better to postpone the purchase of the accessory when the software is more advanced. Xiaomi Pad 5 is available in the version with 6 gigabytes of Ram and 128 gigabytes of storage space at a list price of 399.99 euros.
